Sh. Ibn ʿUthaymeen Raḥimahullāh said:

“Some people spend on their families what they spend but they don’t grasp that with this spending they get closer to Allāh, and if a poor person comes to them; they hand him a Riyāl and believe with this spending they’re closer to Allāh, HOWEVER the BEST spending is the one for family and it has MORE REWARD, hence when you feed your family then that is the BEST OF ISLĀM.”
