▪️The Prostrations of Tilaawah & Shukr▪️

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam – may Allaah preserve him – was asked the following question:

📩 Question:

The questioner says: Do the rulings for the prostration of Tilaawah (recitation) apply to the prostration of Shukr (thanks)?

📝 Answer:

Yes, the prostration of Shukr takes the exact same rulings as the prostration of Tilaawah; in that one is not required to be in the state of Wudhoo’, nor are they required to face the Qibla (during these prostrations); although it’s better to face the direction of the Qiblah. Likewise, there’s also no Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar before the prostration) nor Tasleem (saying Asalaam Aleikum afterwards).
