The Ruling on Broadcasting the Khutbah in the Sister’s Section- Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

The Ruling on Broadcasting the Khutbah in the Sister’s Section- Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

Question: Is it allowed to broadcast the Jummah Khutbah on the women’s section with both the voice and image of the Khateeb?

Answer: “There is no need for this. [Is] the people’s affair showing pictures and [the women] looking at the men? This is not necessary. The women come to the masjid, stay away from the men, and have the picture of men [displayed] in their section as if they are with the men? This is a great mistake”.

Knowledge without action is like a tree without fruit. “

Ash-Shaikh al-‘Allammah Saalih bin Fawzan Al Fawzan حفظه الله said: “Knowledge without action is like a tree without fruit. The poet says:

‘And the scholar who does not act upon his knowledge, [is promised] torment before the idol worshipper’”.

[The Manners of the Student of Knowledge]

Keeping good friends

Aboo Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said:

“A person follows (imitates) the religion of his friends, therefore let each one of you look at the one he befriends.” [Aboo Daawood, Tirmidhee, Ahmad, amongst others. See As-Saheehah #927]

Also, Aboo Moosaa Al-Ash’aree narrated that the Prophet (saw) said:
“The example of an evil companion is like an ironsmith. Either he burns your clothes or you smell a foul odor from him.” [Bukhaaree & Muslim]

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen comments:
“… The youth has to to choose a good, righteous and intelligent person for his companion. He should evaluate the condition of the people before he befriends them by researching their condition and reputation. If they have good manners, sound religion, and a good reputation, then they are an object of a long-cherishing wish and profitable gain.

Therefore cling to them, otherwise beware! And stay away from people with evil and wicked character. This should be done so that one isn’t deceived by sweet speech and a beautiful outward appearance.
These attributes are a deception and a misguidance that the people of wickedness use in order to attract simple minded people and to increase their members. Also, they hide within these attributes the things that corrupt one’s behavior and manners.
The poet said it best:

Test the men you intend to brethren,
Look at their affairs closely.
If you gain one with piety and intellect,
Then cling to him happily.”
[Mushkilaat Ash-Shabaab, Pp. 31-32]

What to do if one passes wind during salat?

The Prophet said: “If one of you breaks wind during his prayer, let him hold his nose and leave.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

“Let him hold his nose”– al-Khattaabi said: He instructed him to hold his nose so that people would think that he has a nosebleed. This comes under the heading of good manners in concealing a shameful matter, hiding that which is offensive and giving the impression that what has happened is something different. It does not come under the heading of showing off or lying; rather it is a kind of euphemism, observing decency and seeking to protect oneself from people’s criticism.”

An Important Point About Raising Children

An Important Point About Raising Children

By al-`Allaamah Muhammad ibn Saalih al-`Uthaymeen (رحمه الله):

“Children should be taught rulings with their evidences. Eg: If you want to say to your child: ‘Mention the name of Allaah upon eating and praise Allaah when you’ve finished’, if you say that then you have achieved the objective.
However, if you say: ‘Mention the name of Allaah upon eating and praise Allaah when you’ve finished, because the Prophet ﷺ commanded us to mention Allaah upon eating – he said:
‘Indeed Allaah is pleased with the servant who eats food and praises Him over it, and who drinks and praises Him over it.’

If you say that, you will have achieved 2 benefits:

1 – You accustom your child to follow the evidences
2 – You nurture them upon love of the Prophet ﷺ and instill in them the belief that the Prophet ﷺ is the Imaam who is followed who’s directions we must take.

This is, in reality, something which many are heedless of; most people only teach their child the rulings but they don’t attach these instructions to their source, which is the Qur’an and Sunnah.”

Running away from thought of death

Simply an opinion and my personal opinion at that. I strongly believe that people run away from the thought of aging for various reasons, but the most significant of them all is the acknowledgement of death. Maybe it is the concept of venturing into the unknown, maybe it is the idea that ‘I am not living righteous now, but one day I will’, ahh where ever the fear of death derives from we will all face it. It could be during our sleep tonight, it could be tomorrow evening, death doesn’t discriminate at all, nor does it procrastinate in it’s appointments.

It is a reality we all have to come to realize, we hear about death, but do we truly understand it? Do we understand that when we die, khalaas, finito, there is no more repentance? Do we understand that all the play and amusement of this worldly-life is finished and we have our seat belts strapped in travelling even closer to meet our Creator? Do we comprehend the fact that once we die, we are one step closer to being resurrected on the Day of Judgement only to answer for our actions to the Lord of Existence?

Sometimes it takes a wake up call in order to realize the reality death is, sometimes it takes a near death experience, but how would we recognize if we experienced our last wake up call?

Allah says in the Qur’an: “يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ”
“O you who believe! Fear Allah (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islam (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allah.”

May Allah grant us understanding and guide us all to what pleases Him, اللهم آمين

Throwing Harm in the Street (Littering)

Throwing Harm in the Street (Littering)

The Prohibition of Littering

Ibn ul-’Uthaymeen rahimahullah:

“the conclusion is that everything that harms should be removed from the street. You will be rewarded for that deed. Therefore, if removing harm the street is an act of charity, then throwing harm in the street is a sin. Amongst those who are sinful are those who throw their garbage in the middle of the sin…” [Sharh Riyaadul-Saliheen (1/290) no. 248]

Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-’Abbad was asked:

Question: What is the ruling on throwing harm in the street?

Answer: “No doubt it is sinful for him to throw harm instead of removing it from the street. This is similar to one who urinates in the street. However his statement sallahu alayhi wa salam: “Beware of the two sources of curses” is intended to mean the one who relieves himself in the street or the shade of the people which they use to shade” [Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 594]

The danger of Throwing Harm in the Street

Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas said: “Beware of action that will incur cursing: that a person throw his garbage in the street. So no one passes the street except he says: may Allah curse the one who did this” [al-Musaawi ul-Akhlaaq of Kharaaiti no. 800 with the a Saheeh chain ]

Reward of Removing Something Harmful From the Street

The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam said:

وتميط الأذى عن الطريق صدقة

Removing harmful things from the way is charity

[Agreed Upon]

And he said:

وإماطة الأذى عن الطريق صدقة أو قال : ” صلاة

And removing something harmful from the street is charity or prayer

[Reported by al-Bazzar (1/438) and al-Haythami said in al-Majma’: reported by Abu Ya’la, Bazzar, and Tabarani in al-Kabir and Sagheer with something similar. He increased in his narration with: “All of that is compensated for by two rakats of Duha. The narrators of Abu Ya’la are the narrators of the Saheeh]

The Ruling on Removing Something Harmful From the Street

Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-’Abbad hafidhuhallah was asked:

Question: Removing something harmful from the street, is it obligatory or recommended?

Answer: “That which I see is that it is obligatory because the people will be harmed by it” [Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 594]

What to remove from the street

Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen rahimahullah said:

“If you find in the street a rock or glass or thorns or other than that, then remove it, then that is from Imaan. Even cars which are parked in the middle of the street and make it narrow for the people. So they harm the people in the street and removing that is from Imaan” [Sharh Riyaadh us-Saliheen (1/736)]

What if you cannot remove it?

Shaikh Ibn ul-’Uthaymeen said: “so like this it is necessary to remove the harm from the street. If he is not able to, like there is a big rock or piles of sand or the likes, then let him convey it to the Municipality, for example, because they are responsible for this. So let him convey it to them so that he can be from those who help in righteousness and piety” [Sharh Riyaadh-us-Saliheen (1/736)]

Removing Something Harmful From the Street in a Non-Muslim Land

Question: The one who is in the lands of disbelief, does he remove something harmful from the street?

Answer: “Yes. He removes something harmful from the street even if he is the lands of disbelief” [Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 594]

The One who Throws Harm in the Streets is Deficient in Imaan

Question: “Is it allowed to say that the one who throws something harmful in the street is deficient in Imaan?

Answer: “Yes, not doubt he is deficient in Iman because this is abuse and harm to the people” [Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 594]

There are no celebrations in Islaam except:

There are no celebrations in Islaam except Friday the weekly ‘Eid, the first day of Shawwal – ’Eidal-Adha. The day of ’Arafah might be called an ‘Eid for those who are at’Arafah on that day, and the days of Tashreeq, following ’Eidul-Adha.

As for birthday celebrations for a person or his children, or wedding anniversaries or the like, none of them are legislated and they are closer to being innovations than to being allowed.
