The Ruling on Working in a Store that Sells Merchandise that Has Pictures – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

Question: A man works in a store and items that have pictures are sold in this store. So what is upon this worker [i.e. what should he do]?

Answer: “Theses pictures are from what the people have been afflicted with and some canned goods have pictures. So the likes of this are from what the affliction has overcome. So there is no harm in selling it”.

The Different Types of Souls and How to Purify the Soul – Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan

The Different Types of Souls and How to Purify the Soul – Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan

Question: What are the types of souls? And What is the way to purify it and its path as Allah, the Exalted said: Indeed he succeeds who purifies his oneself [91:9]?

Answer: The types of souls mentioned in the Noble Quran are three: the soul that commands evil (أمارة بالسوء), the self-reproaching soul (النفس اللوامة), and the pious soul (النفس المطمئنة). The soul that orders evil is the one who commands its owner to its prohibited desires and following falsehood. As for the self-reproaching soul: it makes its owner feel guilty for what passed it of good and makes him remorseful for it. As for the pious soul: it is the one that feels tranquil with its Lord and His obedience, commands, and remembrance. It is not feel settled/tranquil with other than it. Allamah Ibn Qayyim rahimahullah said: It being called pious (مطمئنة ) is a description of praise for it. And (أمارة بالسوء) is a blameworthy description for it and (النفس المطمئنة) is a description to praise and blameworthiness in accordance to what the soul feels guilty about. The way to purify the soul is by holding fast to the obedience of Allah, the Exalted, preventing it from His disobedience, and prohibited desires”.

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Allah will raise for this community at the end of every hundred years the one who will renovate its religion for it”.

[Faid Al Qadir (2/281-282)]

Ibn kathir rahimahullah said, “Every nation claimed this regarding their imam, it is meant by this Hadith and what is apparent, generally in a sentence [is that] he will be from the scholars  from every  طائفة  and every category from Mufassir [scholar of tafseer], Muhaddith [scholar of Hadith] faqih, nahwi, laghawi, and other then them”.

A virtue of constantly seeking forgiveness

A virtue of constantly seeking forgiveness (istighfar):

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
“I said (to them): ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;
‘He will send rain to you in abundance;
‘And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.”

A man complained to al-Hasan about a drought, and he said to him: “Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.” Another man complained to him of poverty and he said to him: “Pray to Allaah to forgive you.” Another man said to him: “Pray to Allaah to bless me with a child.” He said: “Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.” Another complained to him that his garden was dry. He said to him: “Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.” We asked him about that and he said: “This is not my personal opinion, for Allaah says in Soorat Nooh (interpretation of the meaning): ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily, He is Oft‑Forgiving; He will send rain to you in abundance. And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.”

‘And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.”

Al-Imaam Ibnul-Qayim Mentions The Reality of Free Mixing And It’s Harms

Al-Imaam, Al-Allaamah, Al-Muhaqqiq, Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Abee Bakr bin Ayyuub bin Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah (May Allah shower His Mercy upon him) says about the the reality of free mixing:

“And there is no doubt that enabling the women from their free mixing with the men is the origin of every disaster and every evil and it is from the greatest means for the descending of public punishments as it is also from the means for corrupting the general and specific affairs and the free mixing of men with the women is a cause for frequenct evil acts and Zinaa (adultery) and it is also from the means of widespread death and constant plagues!!”

Devil’s Deception to People by giving them High Hopes

Devil’s Deception of People by giving them High Hopes (of living long)

Many Jews and Christians contemplated joining Islam, but Iblis convinced them to procrastinate saying: “Do not rush, look more into the issue.” Until they die as non-Muslims. He also causes the sinner to procrastinate seeking repentance. A poet said:

“Do not rush into committing a sin,and then procrastinate repenting.”

Iblis makes those seeking righteousness feel lazy, and he causes those who are serious to procrastinate. He convinces a jurist to rest instead of going over his lesson again. And convinces a worshipper who had woken up to pray at night that he still has a lot of time.

Iblis tries to make people lazy procrastinators, and to make them have hope (of a long life). A disciplined person must take advantage of time, and never procrastinate. That which is feared can never be trusted, and that which passes can never be brought back again.

The main reason for doing less good and more evil is relying on the hope of a long life, this is because a person continues to procrastinate performing good deeds and refraining from evil deeds. He who hopes to wake up in the morning will not do much at night, and he who hopes to travel during the day will travel much at night. However, he who sees death to be near works hard during his life. Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Perform prayer as if you were departing.”

Some of the Salaf said: “Beware of procrastination, for it is one of devil’s strongest weapons.”

A disciplined person prepares for his journey, while a procrastinator doesn’t. So when it comes time to travel the disciplined person feels happy while the procrastinator feels that he is in trouble. This is how people are. Some are alert, so when the Angel of Death comes they do not feel guilty. Others are not disciplined, so they feel the agony when it comes time to travel. If procrastination is part of your nature then repelling it becomes
difficult. But when one knows that he has a persistant enemy he will always be on guard.

We ask Allah to give us safety from the enemy’s cunning, the devil’s fitnah’s and the evils of ourselves and the dunya. Indeed He is near and responsive.
