Is Spreading Books and Tapes sufficient Dawah for the One who does not have knowledge- Shaikh Ibn ul-Uthaymeen

Question: I am a youth who wants to be a caller to Allah, however, I do not have the appropriate method/manner. Are beneficial Islamic tapes and Islamic books sufficient [as Dawah], in that I establish to spread them or distribute them. Benefit Me, Jazakallahu Khairan?

Answer: “Yes, no doubt a person will not be firmly established in Dawah by himself, however, he will be firmly established by spreading beneficial books and tapes. However, based on the fact that if he is not able to call by himself, he does not spread these books and tapes except after presenting them to a student of knowledge to know what is in them of mistakes. Until this man does not distribute what has mistakes and he is not aware. He should also, rather it is from the methods of Dawah, that he makes an agreement with a student of knowledge that the student of knowledge writes for him [material] that calls to good. So this man supplies this man who is not capable of calling by himself”.

Should a Student Use a Notebook to Record Benefits or the Margin of the Book? – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

Question: Oh my honorable teacher, some People of Knowledge advise to record the benefits by writing it in a notebook because it will be well-organized and clear. Some advise to write in the book so that it can be studied more when reviewing. So what is your advice for us?

Answer: “By Allah, each is good. However, if a person has a notebook to record in or if the margins of the book are spacious that it suffices, then there is no harm in this because he can distinguish what is printed from his handwriting. However, if a person has a notebook that he records benefits, then no doubt this is good. However, if he writes in the book and every book has marginal notes, then there is no harm”.

The Ruling on Studying with an Innovator- Shaikh Ahmad an-Najmi

Question: What is the ruling on studying with the people of innovation with the following conditions:

  1. The knowledge [hoping to be studied]  is not found with Ahlul Sunnah or it is present however they are not free of time to teach.

  2. The person has some innovation, for example, ascribing to the Muslim Brotherhood. However he does not call to this and is not well-known in this organization.

  3. And you are in need of building your foundational knowledge, so what do you do? And what is the guidance [on this issue]? Jazakallahu Khairan

Answer: “The strongest opinion with me is that the it is not necessary to study with the innovator because sometimes he will enter his innovation in his lessons, make it beloved to the students, and spread it by way of the lessons. How many students of knowledge began on the path of authentic Salafiyyah, then he ascribes to a Shaikh, sits with him a lot until he diverts him from what he was upon. So it is necessary for the Salafi student of knowledge who wants the truth not to study with the innovator and he might accept [the innovation] and he does not know”.

DON’T RELY ON YOUR INTELLECT ALONE

DON’T RELY ON YOUR INTELLECT ALONE

Sheikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

‘A man can be from the most intelligent of people and among the sharpest of them as far as how he perceives affairs and it will make him blind of the most clearest of things and also you can have a man who is the most slow of people and the weakest of them of how he perceives and sees matters and Allaah will guide him to what was differed in of the truth. There isn’t any might or strength except with Allaah.

So whoever relies on his in intelligence and his usage of certain things as evidence (without relying and asking Allaah to give him insight) or relies on his intellect or his knowledge of his mind, he will be let down. For that reason the Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم, in an authentic text, would say,

“O’ Turner of hearts, keep our hearts firm upon your religion.”‘

The Student of Knowledge has a passion for buying books

By Shaykh Khaalid ar-Radaadi may Allah preserve him

The Shaykh mentioned this benefit in the Q&A portion to a lecture he gave to students in the Islamic University of Madinah entitled “How the student of knowledge should specifically build his library”. He said,

What distinguishes the student of knowledge is his library, the attention he gives to his library, and his passion for acquiring beneficial books. I remember some of the Mashayikh and some of the ‘Ulemaa who would sell some of their furniture from their homes in order to buy books out of need. They would sell some of their furniture from their own homes until they were able to buy books!

And I remember in the year 1405 (we are now in 1436[2015]) when the second book fair of the university…

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

Can you write notes in the margins of the Mushaf?

Answered by Shaykh Saalih bin Muhammad al-Luhaydaan may Allah have mercy on him

Question: This female questioner from Egypt asks, ‘Is it permissible for the student of knowledge to write explanations [Tafsir] of some verses or benefits derived from the verses in the margins of the Mushaf?’

Answer: Have you not seen published books where the explanation are in the margins of the Mushaf? Tafsir Jalaalayn is in the margins of the Mushaf, Tafsir Baydaawi is in the margins of the Mushaf, and those other than these.

[There is no issue with writing in the Mushaf] so long as they are written in the margins and does not resemble the writing of the Noble Qur’an.

The Ruling on Students Making Noise in the Masjid – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

The Ruling on Students Making Noise in the Masjid – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad

Question: What is the ruling on some students gathering inside the masjid, speaking a lot, and raising their voices until their is noise/clamor inside the masjid?

Answer: “Raising voices and causing clamor in the Masaajid is unpleasant. It is necessary to protect the Masaajid from that. The masjid is only for the recitation of the Quran, remembering Allah, supplication, and learning beneficial knowledge. This is what the Masaajid are for. Clamor is befitting in the markets.  It is not befitting a person to do what is not befitting in the Masaajid, like raising the voice, making noise/clamor, and disturbing those who are praying or reciting Quran or remembering Allah”.

It is necessary for the student of knowledge distinguish himself in his general affairs from the methods/ways of the laymen

Imam Khateeb al-Baghdadi rahimahullah said:

“It is necessary for the student of knowledge distinguish himself in his general affairs from the methods/ways of the laymen by using the narrations of the Messenger sallalahu alayhi wa salam as much as he can and by employing the Sunnah upon himself. For verily Allah, the Exalted said:

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow
