Ash Shaykh Saalih As Suhaymee said:
And knowledge is the greatest provision which the Muslim takes as a provision and that is because with knowledge Islaam is known from Disbelief, guidance is known from misguidance, Tawheed from Shirk, the Sunnah from innovation, Truth from falsehood, the knowledge which its companion acts with is like a scale which the things are weighed with, so the matters are weighed with it and he doesn’t place his foot except where its befitting that it be placed, so knowledge is a light which illuminates for him the path as Imam Maalik said ‘Knowledge is not by many narration, rather knowledge is a light which Allah aza wa jal places in the hearts’
And as Ash shaafiee said
I complained to Wakee about my bad memory
So he directed me to leaving off sins
And said know that the knowledge is light
And the light of Allah is not given to a sinner

Having a Zeal for Attending The Circles of knowledge – Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen
Having a Zeal for Attending The Circles of knowledge – Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen
Ash-Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-Uthaymeen rahimahullah said when mentioning some affairs which causes a person to lose his zeal and his enthusiasm to seek knowledge:
ضعفُ الهمَّةِ والعزيمة؛ وإلاَّ فالإنسان ينبغي كلما ازداد في طلب العلم أنْ يزداد نشاطاً؛ لأنه يجد زيادة في معلوماته؛ فيَفرح كما يفرح التاجر إذا ربح في سلعة فتجده ينشط. فإذا ربح في نوع من السلع ربحًا كثيرًا تجده يحرص على أن يحصُل على كمية كبيرة من هذا النوع.
Firstly: “Having a lack of aspiration (i.e ambition) and determination or else. What is appropriate for a person is that every time he increases in seeking knowledge, he should increase in enthusiasm, being the reason (that) he found something extra to add to his knowledge. Therefore, he becomes happy as a merchant becomes happy when he profits from his merchandise, and you find him become energetic. So, if he were to profit much in a certain type of merchandise, you will find him strive to obtain a great amount of quantity from this type of merchandise”
“Likewise, the student of knowledge, as long as he is serious in his seeking of knowledge while being truthful, then surely every time he achieves understanding in one matter, he increases in his interest for knowledge”
“As for the person who doesn’t seek knowledge except to spend his time only, then this (type of person) will eventually become unenthusiastic and lazy”
Secondly: “That the Shaytan makes the student of knowledge lose hope. He whispers (to him) saying ‘the target is too far and it is not possible that you achieve what the scholars have achieved. Then, he begins to become lazy and begins to leave off seeking knowledge, while (this mentality, verily) this is wrong…”
Thirdly: “Accompany the miserable ones, for verily companionship plays a big role upon a person… to the extent (that) it doesn’t only affect the person in leaving off seeking knowledge. Rather, even in performing certain acts of worship…”
Fourthly: “Becoming distracted from it by temptations and through wasting one’s time, at times (solely) for the purpose (of wanting to) just go for a walk. And some people have been greatly trialed with watching soccer games and its likes”
Fifthly: “That the person doesn’t bring to his attention (the fact) that during him seeking knowledge, he is like a Mujaahid in the path of Allah, rather greater…”

A Side Note: The Shaykh mentioned a story of a man who became a great scholar in the Arabic literature after being inspired by an ant. He once seen an ant carry its food, trying to climb a wall, while it kept falling down up until its tenth try. Eventually, the ant finally made it up the wall carrying its food. Therefore, that person took from it a lesson that he was more deserving to be patient in seeking knowledge and having endurance (and doing it) up until he reaches his goal.
Ruling on teaching women without a barrier | Permanent Committee
Ruling of teaching Woman without a barrier.
Q:
We have many Muslim Circassians here, and they practice many Bid`ahs (innovations in religion). Praise be to Allah, we were allowed to teach them the matters of religion. Is it permissible to teach the girls, especially the adults? What are the conditions for doing so? Can we disregard some Bid`ahs, and advise them to quit them gradually?
A: It is impermissible for a man to teach a woman while she is not wearing the Hijab (veil)
( Part No : 12, Page No: 158)
or in Khulwah (being alone with a member of the opposite sex), even if she is wearing the Hijab. A woman should cover completely in front of an Ajnaby (man lawful for the woman to marry). As for covering the head and revealing the face, this is not complete Hijab. However, there is no harm in teaching a woman from behind a barrier in schools dedicated for women, where there is no mixing between boys and girls, or between male teachers and female students.
You can teach women according to these Shar`y (Islamically lawful) rules, and you shall be greatly rewarded, as teaching people religion and warning them about Bid`ahs and superstitions is one of the best deeds. Whoever guides people to any form of goodness will be rewarded as much as its doer, without it affecting their reward. This is established in the Sahih (authentic) Sunnah. It is reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, their reward will be equivalent to those who follow them (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect; if anyone invites others to follow error, their sin will be equivalent to that of the people who follow them (in sinfulness) without their sins being diminished in any respect. Narrated by Muslim.
It is impermissible for you to disregard Bid`ahs or falsely compliment their doers, but you should advise them wisely and use good preaching,
( Part No : 12, Page No: 159)
not severity. You should follow the best suitable way you see for Da`wah (calling to Islam) to reach them.
May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!

Cursing jinn | Sh. Muqbil
Ruling on the one who curses the Jinn – Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadi al-Wad’iee
Question: What is the ruling on the one who curses the Jinn?
Answer: If he means by it the Shaayateen (the devils), then what is most deserving is that he should say: Bismillah (in the Name of Allah) and that he remembers Allah for that is more deserving than the one who curses them. Otherwise it is allowed since the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
إذا عثر أحدكم فليقل: بسم الله ولا يقل: تعس الشيطان، فإنه إذا قال : تعس الشيطان تعاظم ، ويقول : صرعت بني آدم بقوتي ، ولكن إذا قال : بسم الله تصاغر
[Saheeh Sunan Abu Dawood 4982]
“If anyone of you trips then let him say Bismillah (in the name of Allah) and let him not say curse the Shaytaan. If he says curse the Shaytaan, the Shaytaan grows and he (the Shaytaan) says I have overcome the son of Adam with my strength. However if he says Bismillah (in the name of Allah) he (the Shaytaan) gets smaller.”
So the remembrance (of Allah), doing (good) deeds, reading the Quran and being steadfast is more deserving.

Praising ahlul bid’aa | Sh. Bin Baz
Ash-Shaykh Bin Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him, was aksed the following question:
The Question: The one who praises Ahlul Bid’ah and extols them is he to be added to them?
The Answer: “Yes, there is no doubt ,the one who praises them and extols them then he is a caller for them, he calls to them, this person is from their callers, we ask Allah for salvation”

Shaykh Muqbil regarding Hizbut Tahreer
Imam Muqbil was asked:
There is a group here called Hizbut Tahreer they call to the Islamic Caliphate, they speak about the scholars, thus how can we refute them and what is the way to the guided Islamic caliphate?
The Shaykhs answer:
“As for the affair of groups then the people are categorized in to two parties:
The party of Ar Rahman (The Most merciful) and the party of Ash Shaytan (the devil). As for the party of Ar Rahman, then it is not permissible for them to divide in the religion.
Allah says
Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects) , you (O Muhammad) have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allah, Who then will tell them what they used to do [6:59].
The Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم said the Jews split in to 71 groups, the Christians split in to 72 groups and this nation will split in to 73 groups.
Abu Dawood reported it from the narration of Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه and Abu Dawood also reported it from the narration of Mu’awiyah رضي الله عنه similar to it and In it is “All of it are in the fire except a group. They said and who is it oh Messenger of Allah? He said The Jamaah (congregation)
Then he صلى الله عليه و سلم said:
“There will come a people who will be dominated by desires like rabies which penetrates its patient”.
Indeed that which the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم informed occurred for the desires have become many, and the groups have become many, and the Lord of Might says in his Noble Book:
واعتصموا بحبل الله جميعا و لا تفرقوا
Hold tight to the rope of Allah all of you and don’t divide [3:103]
The Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم said “You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure, you would follow them.” We said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?” He said, “Whom else?
And the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said:
“A faithful believer to a faithful believer is like the bricks of a wall, enforcing each other.”
As for these partisan groups, they chase each other away, and disparage each other. Rather if one were to say that these groups have made a reality that which the enemies of Islam intend from the splitting of the nation, disrupting there unity, and weakening their strength, then he would be truthful.
Hizbut Tahreer is an evil repulsive group, perhaps you find this statement to be great since I mentioned it in the beginning of my speech and it would of been more befitting if I had prepared the way for it (with an introduction). I say that it is an evil repulsive group!
It came about in Jordan and broke away from the Muslim Brotherhood. Thus, they corresponded with him (it’s leader) to return but he refused to return, and there leader was Taqiyud Deen An Nabhaani.
In regards to the matter of beliefs they say: It isn’t taken except from the intellect. If evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah is found then it must be definite. Therefore, they reject the punishment of the grave, and the coming of the Maseeh Ad Dajaal.
Similarly they don’t pay concern to teaching the noble manners nor pay concern to knowledge. [They are ] a group who’s companions were brought about upon mere politics and opposition of the religion. We say to its leader why don’t we see from your group institutes for the memorization of the Qur’an?
He will say: “I don’t want to bring about Dervishes!!” (I.e. A Sufi religious group known for poverty and asceticism)
They rely upon politics and not knowledge, nor manners, nor heart softeners, just politics.
They permit for a man to shake a non-Mahram woman’s hand. They also permit for a woman to be a leader, or that she be in the state council. They permit for the disbeliever to be in the state council and that he be put in charge of some of the general administrative districts. It is a misguided group, rather in utmost misguidance. I am shocked at he who boasts and rejoices due to Hizbut Tahreer.
I advise every brother to distance from him and warn from him. If it wasn’t that we make excuses for them, that they misinterpret (the texts), we would have said they are disbelievers because they reject the punishment of the grave, the coming of the Maseeh ad Dajaal, and their leader says He doesn’t like to teach his students the Qur’an so that they don’t come out Dervishes…”

Is there an increase in reward for one who fasts while in the company of those who are eating? | Sh. Uthaymeen
Ash-Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-Uthaymeen, rahimahullah, was asked the following question:
هل للصائم أجر إذا كان أمامه أناس يأكلون؟ وهل ورد في السنة ما يبين ذلك إذا كان هناك أجر لأن بعض الإخوة يقول: إن الملائكة تترحم عليه؟
Question: Is the fasting person rewarded if there are people in front of him eating? And has anything come in the Sunnah which clarifies there being some type of reward [for it] since some of the brothers say that the angels make du’a of mercy for him?
Answer: I am unaware of any texts from the Messenger sallahu alayhi wa salam that there is a reward [for it] or that the angels make du’a of mercy for him. However, some of the Salaf especially during the time of the Tabi’een would see it to be from patience; meaning to be an increase of patience. Meaning the fact the person is patient upon fasting while people are eating in front of him is an increase of the reward by that, especially if his inner self is desiring food and drink. For verily he will have an increase of reward since he will obtain by it an increase of patience.

Does kissing a non mahram break ones fast? | Sh. Uthaymeen
A fatwa by Shaykh ‘Uthaymeen my Allah have mercy on him says
Praise be to Allaah.
Undoubtedly this man who kissed a girl who was a stranger (non-mahram) to him has not understood the wisdom and purpose behind fasting, because this man has committed an act of falsehood. The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does not give up speaking falsehood and acting accordingly, and ignorance, Allaah has no need of him giving up his food and drink.” If he did that and forced her to do that, then in this case it was an act of both falsehood and ignorance, and he has failed to understand the wisdom and purpose behind fasting and his reward is diminished without a doubt, but according to the majority of scholars his fast is not invalidated in the sense that we do not say that he has to make it up.
Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, vol. 1, p. 516.
