Bakr Ibn ‘Abdullaah Al-Muzani said:

“If you see someone older than you then respect him saying, ‘He has beaten me to Islaam and righteous action.’

If you see someone younger than you then respect him saying to yourself, ‘I have beaten him in sins’.”
