An individual gives sadaqah in order that the person makes du’a for him? | Shaykh Uthaymeen rahimahullah

Ash- Shaykh al- Uthaymeen was asked the following question,

The Question: An individual gives sadaqah in order that the person makes du’a for him?

The Answer: “Even this is still a form of deficiency in one’s ikhlaas

The pious have said “We only feed you for Allah’s sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks) 76:9

While dua is from the ways of recompensing (someone), due to the statement of The Prophet, alayhi salaatu was-salaam,”whoever does a favor for you then reward him, and if you cannot, make dua for him”

And with no doubt there is a difference between a person who gives for Allah sake, whereas he intends to get closer to Allah azza wajal, and between a person who says I shall give him so that he can make du’a for me, there is a big difference”
