Seeking the wisdom behind ruling | Sh.Uthaymeen
Shaykh Al Uthaymeen said
It is befitting for the scholar if it is seeked from him to be directed to knowing the wisdom (behind a ruling), that he clarifies that with an open heart, if the wisdom is made clear to him and if not then he says Allah knows best

Signs of Beneficial knowledge | The Etiquette of Seeking Knowledge – Sheikh Bakr Aboo Zayd
Signs of Beneficial knowledge
1) Implementing it.
2) Hatred for being praised, complemented, or displaying haughtiness over others.
3) Increasing your modesty with the increase of knowledge.
4) Fleeing from the love of leadership, fame, and worldly pleasures.
5) Abandoning the claim to have knowledge.
6) Having bad suspicions about oneself, and good suspicion about other people, so as to steer clear from disparaging them.
‘Abdullaah Ibn Mubaarak رحمه اللهused to say, in poetry if the manners of the Salaf were mentioned:
“Do not compare us to them
for the sound person who walks
Is not the same as the crippled one. “

Advice To a Student of Knowledge Who Feels Like Leaving Seeking Knowledge – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad
Question: I am a student of knowledge in the Islamic University and now I do not know what happened to me in terms that I want to leave studying. So advise me. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: “This affair which you are thinking of in terms of leaving studying, is it an affair connected to those behind you [i.e. your family]? Or has aversion, abandonment, anxiety, and boredom afflicted you and due to that you cannot study?
If those behind you [i.e your family] need you and there is no one to take your place in that, and so you want to leave off studying, then this has a valid reason/argument. If the affair is related to the fact that a [internal] disturbance has afflicted you and [you feel] a lack of comfort, then it is upon you to perform ruqyah on yourself, seek another person to perform ruqyah on you, and go to a doctor to cure yourself. If the affair is like this, then do this”.

The Ruling on Joining an Islamic University and One’s Parents are Not Pleased – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad
The Ruling on Joining an Islamic University and One’s Parents are Not Pleased – Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad
by darussaafi
Question: Some students leave studying medicine and engineering and other than it from the colleges and join the Islamic university. Their families are not pleased with that. So is that considered disobedience? What is your advice?
Answer: “This is not disobedience because if a person goes to seek knowledge, learn the truth, act upon it, and call towards it, then this is desired. However, it is necessary for him along with that to please his family, do good to them, do what it is possible for him to do from the affairs that will please them. As for leaving knowledge due to them, then he does not do that. Rather he continues seeking knowledge. However, he is eager along with that to please them and improve their thoughts [regarding the situation] by any means possible”.
