Benefit regarding the change of weather

Shaikh Bakr Abu Zaid rahimahullah said:

“Hot day (يوم حار) [See: Daa wa Dawaa pg. 233 and Musnad Imam Ahmad (6/410)]

Ibn ul-Qayyim rahimahullah said in his research about the mistakes of the tongue in Dawaa wa Dawaa:

وقد كان السلف يحاسب أحدهم نفسه في قوله : يوم حار ، ويوم بارد

“The Salaf used to take one another to account for their saying: a hot day and a cold day”

It has become from the norm of the people to follow the changes in the weather and its temperature: heat and cold. How many is their terminology in that and their following of it: complaining and paining because of the intense heat and the intense cold. A person desires for winter in the summer and when the winter comes he detests it. This is because he is not pleased in any condition. Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.

It is appropriate for a Muslim to avoid following the likes of this and taking it as a discussion in the sittings. In the Musnad of Imam Ahmad from Khawlah radiallahu anha that the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam said:

ابن آدم إن أصابه البرد قال : حس ، وإن أصابه الحر قال : حس

“The son of Adam, if cold afflicts him he says Hass [a statement said when one is in pain like ouch] and if heat afflicts him he says: Hass [a statement said when one is in pain like ouch]

[Silsilatus-Saheeha no. 1578]

[Taken from Mu’jim al-Manaahi al-Lafdhiyyah (1/128)]

Subhanallah! This is our custom today as the Shaikh described. We should take heed of the Shaikh’s advice and not indulge in the discussion of the weather or complain about it, especially since we have a lot changes in weather in Canada. May Allah reward Shaikh Bakr for his beneficial work rahimahullah.

The purpose of seeking knowledge

The purpose of seeking knowledge

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

❝The seeker of Knowledge should seek knowledge to benefit himself, and to get rid of his ignorance, and to come closer to His Lord, and to please Him – upon sure knowledge; and to benefit the people, taking them from darkness to light, deciding their problems, making terms of peace among them, teaching the ignorant among them, guiding those who are astray, enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, and so on. ❞

[Majmoo` Fataawa Ibn Baaz (7/204)]

A person must prepare to meet Allaah…

Ash-Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen,

May Allaah have mercy on him, said,
“A person must prepare to meet Allaah عزوجل and know how he will meet Allaah— will he do so in a condition that pleases Him عزوجل or the opposite? So examine yourself and know what state you are in.”

Ways to strengthen iman – Permanaent Committee

Q 2: What are the ways to strengthen one’s Iman (faith/belief) in the face of the many temptations that confront us today (on televisions, in streets, from the western societies)?

A: There are many ways to strengthen Iman, among them: observing acts of obedience and abstaining from prohibitions, keeping company with pious people, frequently reciting the Noble Qur’an and contemplating its meanings, studying the Sunnah (acts, sayings or approvals of the Prophet), constant engaging in Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah), making Du`a’ (supplication), and being totally and poorly dependant on Allah.

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Reckoning on the Day of Resurrection – Permanent Committee

Reckoning on the Day of Resurrection

Q 6: What will the reckoning on the Day of Resurrection be like? Will every Ummah (nation) be called to account using its own language, or what? What is the wisdom behind Resurrection, though it is well known that Allah is All-knowing of the affairs of His Creation?

A: Reckoning on the Day of Resurrection is for every person to know their good and bad deeds in worldly life by reading their own record of deeds, which they will receive either with the right or left hand, and acknowledge that there is nothing written in it that they have not done. Anyone who denies what is in the record of their deeds, their skin and organs will testify to what they have done. Allah (Exalted be He) says: On the Day when their tongues, their hands, and their legs (or feet) will bear witness against them as to what they used to do. And: This Day, We shall seal up their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their legs will bear witness to what they used to earn. (It is said that one’s left thigh will be the first to bear the witness). [Tafsir At-Tabarî,] And: And (remember) the Day that the enemies of Allâh will be gathered to the Fire, then they will be driven [(to the Fire), former ones being withheld till their later ones will join them]. Till, when they reach it (Hell-fire), their hearing (ears) and their eyes, and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do. And they will say to their skins, “Why do you testify against us?” They will say: “Allâh has caused us to speak as He causes all things to speak: and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return.” The wisdom behind the reckoning is:Showing the perfection of Allah’s Justice and confronting His servants with the irrefutable evidence as to what they did in this world.

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions.

Advice for a person who is new (embraced islaam) and is present amongst us – Shaykh Muhammed Saleh Al Luhaydaan

Q.The individual is asking for advice for a person who is new (embraced islaam) and is present amongst us.

A.The Shaykh said I greet this individual; I give him a warm welcome. For this individual who has entered Islaam, it is for him to know that he has done something tremendous as the Prophet Sallaahu Alayhi wa sallam mentioned ‘There is no Jew or Christian that hears about me and dies without believing in me except that he will enter into the hell fire’. So no doubt this individual has done something tremendous.

I advise this individual to be consistent in his prayers, in his five daily prayers & he should perform his prayers at their legislated times. I also advise this individual to learn that which he will use to worship Allaah, in terms of recitation of Qur’aan, in terms of supplications he should say. The most important part of the Qur’aan for him to learn at this time is Suratul Faatihaa. He should learn the proper pronunciation of the opening chapter of the Qur’aan. He should try to learn this from an individual who can teach him. Likewise he should also try his best to learn the meaning of the opening chapter of the Qur’aan… What does all Praise be to Allaah mean? What does Lord of the World mean? What does the Most Merciful mean? So that when he reads the Qur’aan he has an understanding of it. Likewise when he reads the Qur’aan, when he reads the verses he will have a reverence of Allaah azza wa ja’al. The shaykh said I ask Allaah azza wa ja’al to bless this individual and to give him success & likewise those who are present, he who is speaking (shaykh himself) and those that are listening. We ask Allaah azza wa ja’al to bring us closer to Him and to distance us from that which does not please Him.

The beauty of the Qur’an

The beauty of the Qur’an (The speech of the Most-High):

“Verily, this Qur’an narrates to the Children of Israel most of that in which they differ” [Qur’an, surat an-Naml (27): 76].

So, the Qur’an is the Word of Allah, The Most High, letter and meaning. He really Spoke it and bestowed it upon Angel Gabriel, the trustworthy, who then brought it down upon the heart of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) so that he may be one of those who warn the people, in the plain Arabic language.

The Qur’an is the last Revelation, brought down by Allah upon Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) in parts over a period of twenty three years as necessitated by Allah’s Wisdom. In addition, its revelation is either original or occasional, meaning that some of it is brought down in response to a certain occasion that necessitated its revelation, and some of it is revealed without being due to a certain reason. Also some of it is revealed as a narration of a past condition that occurred to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and his companions, whilst some of it comes down as original Legislations, Revealed for the first time. This is according to what has been mentioned by the people of knowledge pertaining to this matter.

  • Furthermore, the Qur’an is a guideline, a book in which instructs how one should live their life. It contains stories of the past (i.e stories of previous nations and Prophets), advice and warnings, how one should know their Lord and worship Him, etc. The Qur’an is also the last of a succession of books sent by Allah to mankind, we are aware of the Torah and Gospel, but yet many of us are unaware of the Qur’an being a book sent from the Lord of Abraham.
